Another hero contest was suggested, so here it is...
You can use any resources you want, as long as they are properly credited.
Your hero must have 4 spells (3 regular and one ultimate). The heroes will be judged on the following criteria:
1) Creativity (10 points) - Nobody wants a hero with 4 basic warcraft spells just tossed together. Get creative.
2) Theme (10 points) - Make sure the spells fit together in some type of theme.
3) Ease of Implementation (10 points) - By this I mean how much work it would take to actually make this hero. If you do everything on your own and it is leak free and perfectly working, you get 10 points automatically. If you have a great idea but no clue how to implement it or ideas on how to actually make it happen, you will get 0. So it is technically possible to get your hero in on the idea itself, but it will be much harder.
So that is a total of 30 points. This contest will be open until the last day of February.

Spells:
Grenade: All army men need to have a short range weapon to fend off enemies.
Throws a grenade that does damage in an aoe. Perhaps small burn damage. As the spell improves the damage increases but the aoe does not increase very much. Aoe around the size of level 2 blizzard.
Crouch: Marines under fire try to crouch to avoid damage.
The marine lies down on the ground and receives less damage (5%-40%?) Because of lying in the prone position damage and attack speed slightly increase. Move speed decreases by 50%.
Summon Tank: Marines need all of the backup they can have against the enemy.
The marine summons a tank to transport it and some comrades at a faster pace than a walking speed. The tank has high armor and a slow medium damage attack. (something like a zepplin but actually does damage)
Ultimate:
Camouflage: Marines need to be stealthy if they want to infiltrate the enemy.
The marine and his allies take a stealthy approach by casting a small aoe invisible that lasts up to 30 seconds. Move speed increases by 25% and the cooldown of this spell is lengthy. Units also receive a slight "ww break damage" as they surprise their enemy with a sneak attack. The aoe of this spell is the same as charms and aoe increases like charm's.
Explanations:

Grenade would be a small aoe nuke that could be used for farming or for fending off enemies that try to gank him. Decent cool down because of the cast range and damage? 10secs?
Crouch could be used if the marine was farming a base or needed extra time to hit the tp because of other ganks. It could be used from behind the lines of his units that are having a skrimish with other units.
Summon Tank could be used as a fighting zepplin that's on the ground. It's useful for quick escapes and has some output. Because it is summoned it isn't organic and is not lustable.
Camouflage can be used at early levels for surrounding heroes, units, or run into a base and farm. At higher levels it can be used like miyata but not a large number of units would be under it's effect so it wouldn't be as large a scale of an attack so it doesn't replace miyata.
Grenade model could be that of anime fight. I could probably find you the spell model if you want.
My thoughts of the hero are it's similar to panda. Grenade is an aoe and crouch is like brawler kinda. Just the other 2 spells are different.

thehelper.net is always a good place to start. There is a ton of resources there, and the user base is also pretty big, so any questioned will get answered pretty quickly.
But just basically, you can either have a triggered or a non-triggered spell. If you open World Editor and just go through the spells, you will find there are an enormous amount of fields for spells that often arent even used. For example, silence has a move speed modifier and an attack speed modifier, so you could easily do something like a castable mass slow spell or a friendly castable mass haste spell. Defend has a ton of options for single target abilities.
I also think auras and 'unit-in-range' spells are pretty cool and not tough to make. The system I used to create Berserker Aura is really good and has the possiblity to make some great spells. It is called 'Unit Aura Control' if you search for it on thehelper.
Basically just get creative. It doesn't have to be a fully finished hero, but the more work you do on the front end, the less I have to do on the back-end, and that will make roar happy.

Can anyone give me a headstart on how to try and make this hero please?
Embargo - How do I reconstruct that Soulburn bug back in 6.5a or so? Because that prevented item use. I could also try and make it so you cannot be affected by positive buffs or spells - so you can't be healed in anyway shape or form. So I will put an anti-magic shell or something?
Inflamed - Do I change the values of Frost Shield to cause damage with no added effects? Higher levels could in fact leave after burn maybe, how do I base this of Phoenix fire?
Bad Karma - I need the hero to shoot a mana flare at the enemy when he is shot. He also needs an aura which lowers magic damage on him when shot by a spell and he needs reverse feedback so that mana is combusted when he is attacked or spell-shot by a hero. How do I go about doing this?
And Hell Followed - It's a shimmering portal, how to make units spawn?
As you can gather I'm a full noob, any help is appreciated.

As there was a whole load of trigger intense/complex heroes lately, I kinda felt like it was time again for something less complicated.
Based on the Idea of having a spell which temporally removes hp, I created a pretty balanced allround hero, capable of both delivering deadly focus with highly upgraded units and dishing out a shitload of damage all by himself.
He should be pretty decent at owning with a second hero, conserving valuable units in the lategame and using creeps to the max.

Exceptionally powerfull at supporting strong units yet also decent on his own.
Can learn Mass Frenzy, Soul Decay, Smash! and Dimensional Rift.

Mass Frenzy: Drastically increases the attackspeed of units in a certain area at the cost of their hp. Hostile units will suffer 50% additional hitpoint loss.
*Hitpoint loss is 4*skilllevel/sec
*Duration is always 15 sec
*Increases Attackspeed by 15% per level, granting an additional 10% (+100% attspd instead of +90%) on max lev
*AoE is 270+30*skilllevel
*Mass Frenzy always cocts 120 mana.

Soul Decay: Drains away the the Hitpoints of the target for a certain time. Hitpoints will recover afterwards.
Kills the target if its hp are below 50% of the drained hp. Higher levels allow stacking the effect.
*Drains away 125*skilllevel hp
*instantly kills at 65.5*skilllevel hp
*Duration is 3*skilllevel
*cooldown is 10.5 - 0.5*skilllevel
*Reduces hitpoints to 1 if they are lower than the drain amount yet higher than 50% of it.
*not affected by Spell resistance(as it's direct hp removal and not damage)

Some thougts:
Spells:
Mass Frenzy: pretty versatile spell, allowing you to buff your units during a fight, deny low tier units, basekill quickly and Use the damage effect to farm(yet it's risky when there are instant AoE nukers out there) Yet every single use has some drawbacks.
Soul Decay: Nuke Assist and finishing nuke, can prove deadly in conjunction with Mass Frenzy. on higher levels, this can take out low hp heroes just like a death coil yet it might be countered with healing posions (even more as all your focus applied after the potion will be healed back by the spell itself at some point)
Smash!: Cleaving Attack with less damage progression in lategame yet also less farm requirements to be really of use. greatly benefits from the attackspeed boost of frenzy.
Dimensional rift:
Can be used to save creeps from certain death, consume low hp units for later use and just heal up the damage dealt by frenzy.
Also pretty nasty when obtaining a second hero, especially one benefiting from Frenzy(dh, fox)
Possible Hero comboes:
UHG with instant AoE nukers: Lich, panda, naga etc will be happy to have another AoE spell alongside, even more as they can just wait for the creeps to drop low health by Frenzy and then secure the kills.
UHG with Herokillers: Soul Decay is just a nice spell to complement hero focus. An Avalanche could easily rake in kills before the first mass when coupled with UHG.
UHG+Jaood: Jaoods frenzy is just stronger than Mass frenzy. jaood also benefits greatly from Soul Decay.
UHG+Ravage: Entangle + mass Frenzy is a nasty combo yet easily countered by dispel
UHG+roaaaarrr: Stun+Soul decay in conjunction with roar and frenzy could prove deadly!
UHG+Alche/GAMERA: Healspray+frenzy sounds gay...
UHG+Alche/HG/halpmeh/...: ewduces armor --> more damage by smash!
Gameplay:
Item whoring Farmer: All he needs is Firehand Gauntlets and Bracers. The first one grants him an insane resistance to attacks with some nifty attspd increase on top(increases smash damageoutput) while the second one will give him even more resistance, also reducing the damage he takes by his own frenzy.
Supporter: Note, he should always be the one teching as his ultimate only works on his own units. He will be the one, killing the footmen of his allies with frenzy, doing massive farming raids with speedscrolled, frenzied armies, saving some of his low hp units for later use and also saving creeps. His Soul Decay will provide some additional defenses against farmer heroes.
Dual Hero Combo:
There are just times when you wanna obtain a second hero like dh or fox. He can save them without spending money on a tp by just using his ultimate and he is also capable greatly increasing their damageout.
So far has only 2 skills, their probably imba, but its just to give you guys an idea. Have fun!
SKILL 1: Chaos Bolt - Summons a bolt of chaos that can heal a friendly unit or damage an enemy unit for a random amount of damage. The maximum amount of damage increases per level.
LEVEL 1 - 1-200 healed/damage
LEVEL 2 - 1-400 healed/damage
LEVEL 3 - 1-600 healed/damage
LEVEL 4 - 1-800 healed/damage
LEVEL 5 - 1-1000 healed/damage
LEVEL 6 - 1-1200 healed/damage
SKILL 2 (this can either be an ultimate or lower its values and make it a regular skill): Roulette - Picks a random hero on the map and deals massive damage to it. The damage increases per level.
LEVEL 1 - 1000 damage
LEVEL 2 - 2000 damage
LEVEL 3 - 3000 damage
